Trevethan Head to london for The Gin Guild’s Spring Installation.

Gin Guild Induction at the Guildhall in London 2023

Last Thursday 4th May 2023 our Head Distiller John Hall and Sales Director Marc Megilley attended The Gin Guild Spring Dinner and were inducted as new members at the magnificent Guildhall in London. The event saw 43 new members from around the world who confirmed the Guild oath and were presented with the iconic juniper spring pin (which are already being worn with pride!), the legendary Gin Guild brick and a membership certificate.

The event highlighted the guild’s continued growth and that of the gin industry, both in the UK and internationally and is a testament to the continued interest in gin, and it showcased the importance of collaboration and networking within the industry.

John says “It is a honour for Marc and I to have the opportunity to join such a distinguished body that represents the gin industry as a whole and promotes excellence in gin distillation internationally”.

Following the installation ceremony guests enjoyed a 3-course meal including a White Negroni which accompanied dessert, (with thanks to Guild member Antonio Beneforti). This was an unplanned but wonderful accidental tribute to the inventor of the cocktail Wayne Collins, who died earlier this year.

After dinner and our first ever toast to His Majesty King Charles III from Grand Rectifier Lesley Gracie, Guild chairman Christopher Hayman outlined the key achievements of our first decade, from the installation of our first 14 members back in October 2012 to.

After-dinner speakers, the Thinking Drinkers, a.k.a Ben McFarland and Tom Sandham, entertained the audience with a Gin themed version of their touring show, including the hugely entertaining game “Who drinks more (Gin)?” which was brilliant – if you ever get the opportunity to see them we would recommend!

The Gin Guild don’t promote individual brands; they want to bring together the broadest range of products and producers, as well as everyone associated with the wider industry, to create a forum for all those involved in gin production, sales, marketing, distribution, and the bar trade.
